St. Louis 2000  -  ELCA National Youth Gathering

Dancing at the Crossroads

Members of St. Peter's LYO  Youth Group  went to St. Louis June 28 - July 2 for the National Youth Gathering of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

Six high school youth, Pastor Larson, and Lisa Baker traveled to St. Louis by bus along with churches from Fredericksburg, Wimberley, Mason, San Marcos, and Stonewall.

While in St. Louis the youth attended Bible Studies, workshops, worship, service projects, and did some sightseeing as well.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu, winner of the Nobel Prize and head of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa, was a keynote speaker on the topic of forgiveness and reconciliation.

Attendance at the gathering was around 30,000, and a second session followed one week later for more youth.

Taos Trip - Summer, 1999.  Mountains, cool air, white water rafting, and, oh, yeah, building adobe houses for Habitat for Humanity (translation: making mud bricks in the sun  - FUN, right?)
