St. Peter's
Lutheran Active Teens (SPLAT!)
About SPLAT...
LUTHERAN YOUTH
ORGANIZATION at St. Peter's ministers to high school youth. Each Sunday
morning at 9:30 a.m. (except during the Summer) the youth gather for study and discussion
with their leaders. Throughout the year LYO members sponsor congregational events,
community events, and other fund raisers for their projects and trips.

Thirteen St. Peter's high school youth along with Mike and
Marietta Williams and Pastor and BJ Henry
attended the 2009 ELCA National Youth Gathering in New Orleans
July 21-26, 2009. They joined 37,000 other Lutheran youth and
sponsors at the event.
The evening
gatherings were world-class productions with speakers of
national stature and music from leading groups.

Three days of service
projects involving approximately 12,000 youth ferried
around on 300 buses each day meant that three years
worth of hurricane reclamation work and other service was
accomplished in three days.

LYO Planning
Year 1: A ski trip during spring break, usually to New Mexico
Year 2: A service project involving travel.
In the past they have gone to Taos, New
Mexico, where they helped build a habitat for humanity house. (They still had time for
fellowship, Bible study and worship, and white water rafting!)
Year 3: Every three years the group travels to the ELCA National Youth Gathering. These
events are held in a large city and attract over 30,000 Lutheran Youth. In
2006 the National Youth Gathering was held in San Antonio, Texas.
